What is Beginner Camp?

A safe room to start.

A festival of African street dance can feel intimidating if you've never danced a single step. Beginner Camp exists so it doesn't. The classes are built specifically for total newcomers — slower pacing, gentler challenges, games and warmups, a room where nobody is judging.

You leave with the basics of Coupé Décalé, Jazze, Ntcham, Mbole, Afro Fusion, Mapouka, Makune and Biama — and with a crew of people you started this with.

Newcomer questions.

I've literally never danced. Is this really for me?+
That's exactly who Beginner Camp is for. The whole pace, the games, the warmups — everything is built so a total beginner walks in nervous and walks out moving. No background needed.
Do I need to come with friends?+
No. OYOFE draws people from 53+ countries who arrive solo. The shared experience of being a beginner together is one of the easiest ways to meet the family.
What styles will I actually learn?+
Coupé Décalé and Mapouka from Côte d'Ivoire. Jazze and Ntcham from Gabon. Mbole, Afro Fusion and Makune from Cameroon. Plus Biama. Each class introduces one style at beginner level.
What language do classes run in?+
A mix of English, French and Spanish. The community is used to switching between all three — teachers translate or demo physically when language is a barrier.
Where do classes happen?+
The main home base is Carrer de Llull 121, in the Sant Martí neighborhood of Barcelona (08005). All Beginner Camp classes run there.
Can I upgrade to Open Level later if I get the bug?+
Yes. If you fall in love and want the full 20+ class experience, you can upgrade on-site to Open Level — Full Pass and pay the difference.
See you on the floor
